Kiss Me, Even if It Burns

Dylan Pitt wants his bodyguard to submit to him, and she will not. The bodyguard is Scarlet Novak, an orphan who has been at his side from the time he had nothing until he reached the top, and who has been his hidden lover along the way. He sets out to wear her down, and the excuse he uses is his first love. He torments Scarlet in that woman's name, in every way he can think of. Scarlet does not bend, and eventually she fakes her own death and gets away from him. He finds her and brings her back. To keep her from leaving again he has her hypnotized and her memory erased. It is after this that Dylan comes to understand that a world without her means nothing to him. Later a man known as Scorpion injects Scarlet with poison, and she has to go looking for the antidote.
