Traded Trash for the Tide

For three years the young captain ran the fishing fleet for his cousin, using techniques from his family, and brought in around two million a year. At the end of one year his share came to thirty thousand and his cousin insulted him in front of everyone. He spent his savings on a wrecked boat, repaired it himself, named it Wave Breaker and went out alone. The first hauls were expensive fish, about 1.6 million within a month, and he built the catch into a company and moved into deep water. His cousin lost the boats, lost a contract, and ran up debts, then set fires and sabotaged what he could. Later the cousin fell into the sea and hit his head, and afterward had the mind of a child. The captain does not mock him and does not make much of pitying him. He goes down to the harbor, boards, and heads back out.
