Echoes of the Last Dance

Lira Crowell is a shaman of Southern Chu who can perform the Summoning Dance three times in her life. She met Hadrian Vale during a war. She danced the first time for him and he became North Lord of Summerdyn; she went blind and the White Death poison went into her. She danced the second time and her hair turned white. She said nothing, and her sister Yvaine claimed the credit for saving him. Yvaine then feigned illness, was married to Hadrian as his consort, and set the two of them against each other. Yvaine pressed Lira into the third dance, this one for Yvaine's own benefit. The price of the third dance was not her life. She lost her memory of Hadrian. Hadrian, who had misunderstood what she did, learned afterward what the dances had cost her.
