Lovers or Nemises

Alina brought up Owen, who was Damien Chou's son. Her grandmother had told her to take the boy in, and she did it in the year after Damien Chou died at her hands. Ten years went by that way and the two of them were close. Alina's father gambled. When the men he owed came looking for him, he left her and her grandmother behind and ran. Damien Chou was the one he owed, and he turned it on the girl who was still there. He had her worked over, and he told his men to sell her off. The last time, he came at her with a knife in his hand, and in the moment it took the knife went into him. After that she sold from a stall in the street, and the customers around her saw a thin girl putting in long hours. It took someone out of the old business shouting "murderer" at her for them to hear otherwise. Five more years on, Emilio arranged for Owen to learn who had killed his father. Owen chose his father, and made up his mind to come back for her.
