Loving Me, Killing Me

Sebastian Cross told Selena Hazel he had an illness that would kill him and that the treatment was beyond anything he could pay for. The illness was invented. He was running a group company at the time, and the point of the story was to find out what Selena would do for a man with nothing. Selena left school and took work. She was pregnant by then and kept that from him. Part of the money came from a place that paid for blood, where a used needle went into her arm and left her with HIV. Another woman who wanted Sebastian got hold of the medical record and put it around that Selena had been sleeping with anyone. Sebastian believed it and cut her off. He learned afterwards that she had been selling blood for his sake and that the child was his. Her uncle arranged a marriage for her that she had no say in, and Sebastian pulled her out of it. When students at her school turned on her, he bought a controlling share in the school.
