The Night of Possibilities

A month before her wedding, Cheng Qingye found out that her fiancé Lyu Xudong had been unfaithful. She said nothing to him. Her mother was seriously ill at the time, and the relationship had run five years. She stopped sleeping, and after weeks of it she walked into the Polygala clinic, a traditional Chinese medicine practice, and was seen by Yu Song. At the end of the visit she asked him to spend the night with her. She did not know that Yu Song had known who she was for years and had been watching her from a distance. Instead of answering the question directly, he booked her in for a course of treatment and kept her coming back, talking her through the insomnia and the anger she had been holding down.
