The Way Back to "Us"

Haley's brother arranged a marriage for her with Cedric, the richest man in the village, and she was not told who the groom would be. She was pregnant. Dorian had gone into the city for work with a promise to come back for her. When she found out who was waiting at the other end of the wedding she ran, and went into the city to look for him, and outside a hotel she saw him with Liora, a woman with money behind her, who had a small boy in her arms. Haley read it as betrayal. She got as far as deciding to end it with the daughter she was carrying, and somebody pulled her back. Dorian had seen her getting into another man's wedding car, and he had settled on his own version of her by then. He stayed in the city and built his company with Liora's backing. Twenty-two years later Haley's daughter was hired there without knowing whose company it was. Liora's son, the boy from outside the hotel, went after her at work and would not leave it alone. A fire started during one of these attempts, and Dorian carried Liora's son out of it and left Haley and her daughter to the reporters and the society women. The daughter wrote something and put it where everyone she knew would read it, then went up to the roof of the building.
