As the Road Leads

Aurora Sullivan's father dies in an accident, and she takes up the work he had wanted for himself and becomes a freight driver. This is the 1980s. Her family does not accept a woman doing it, and neither does the trade. Her boss is corrupt and set against her, and he uses his position to keep her off the job. Her mother has already lost her husband and is too afraid of losing someone else to let her daughter drive. Aurora drives anyway. She puts a team together, and they take on bad roads and competitors who do not stay inside the rules. In time she and the people with her start a haulage business of their own.
