The Do-Over Queen

Elissa is a royal princess who ran from a marriage arranged for her and went into hiding as a butcher, selling meat and keeping her name to herself. She marries Morgan, a poor scholar, and supports him for years while he studies for the imperial examinations. He passes, takes his title and his position, and hands her divorce papers, with a mistress already waiting. He has no idea that the rank and reputation he is enjoying were bought by the wife he threw out. At the ceremony marking his appointment, Elissa stops hiding what she is. She strikes him and the woman with him in front of everyone assembled, and the people who spent years looking down on the butcher's wife have to look at a princess. In the palace there is a second problem, someone occupying her place with a false claim to it, and the switch behind it reaches into the court. Elissa sets about taking her position back, with the general Hector at her side, a man she knew as a child before any of this began.
