Daddy, You’re Out!

Lemuel Knox thought Nanette Mosley was a country girl with nothing to her name, and he treated her as one. Nanette, a long-lost heiress, was in love with him. They spent one night together while both were drunk, and she got pregnant. Glenda Harris said the night had been hers, and Lemuel became engaged to her. Then Nanette's adopted sister hit Glenda with a car and drove off, and Glenda was left in a coma. Nanette said she had been the one driving, because otherwise the blame fell on her adoptive father, and Lemuel had her put in prison. She served the sentence and expected never to be in the same room as him again. He kept finding ways to make her pay for what had happened to Glenda.
