Xu Xingyang raises two children on her own and designs jewellery for a living. Her days run to a routine she set herself, and most of her attention goes into the work. The Qi family had objected to her over the gap in standing between her and Qi Yan, and the two of them had promised each other it would make no difference. Then came the accident. Keeping Qi Yan and his mother alive meant taking money and going, and Qi Yan was left with a version of events in which she walked out on him while he was close to death. Five years on she meets him again. He comes at her carrying hatred, with no sign that he knows what the money was for.
