Lin Chen's uncle and aunt were in debt and close to losing their country guesthouse. He put his own money in, brought in his own contacts, opened tour routes into the area and set up the customer side and the supply side for them. The arrangement was that he took half the profits. The place became one of the better earners in the tourist district. Once the money was coming in the couple went back on the arrangement, returned his capital and pushed him out. He left and the customers and the suppliers went with him. To hold the margin up the couple moved to cheap frozen stock and heavy seasoning and told the guests nothing about it, and complaints about the food started coming. They were spending on a villa while that was going on.
