Zell was the boy the whole school wanted, and the standing arrangement around him was that Jana did the running. For three years she brought him breakfast, bought his medicine and was available at any hour, any day of the year. She confessed to him 1,081 times. The last one was on New Year's Eve, in public, and he humiliated her for it. She said "game over" and walked off. Jana was the heir to the Carter Group, one of the older names in the capital. Three years earlier she had made a bet with Zed, her childhood friend, and to win it she had passed herself off as a poor girl and gone after Zell. The term was up, so she took her own name back and left him. Zell found out what had been going on and regretted it. He went to Wendy, who had her own grudge, and the two of them made plans for the wedding of Jana and Zed.
