Charles Summers drives race cars for a living and has an erectile problem he has told nobody about. He books an appointment with Joseph Johnson, an andrologist, and Joseph wants him from the first consultation. Joseph keeps the treatment going longer than the condition requires, using the appointments as a reason to see him week after week, and the two of them start sleeping together without telling anyone. Charles's family has a marriage arranged for him and expects him to go through with it. Joseph works on the people standing between them, pushing aside the ones who object and cutting off the arrangement his family made. Charles stops resisting the situation and accepts what it is. They keep the relationship hidden while the pressure from outside builds, and when a crisis breaks over them they decide to say publicly what they are to each other rather than keep hiding, which forces everyone around them to take a position.
