I Fell for My Dangerous Stepbrother

Claire is twenty-one and wants nothing to do with the family her parents assembled, least of all Dan, the stepbrother who does everything right. She has been telling herself it is hatred for as long as they have lived under one roof. The parents plan a road trip. The car has fewer seats than it has people, so Claire ends up in the back on Dan's lap for a drive through mountain roads in a storm. The car shakes, the rain comes down hard enough to blank the windows, and there is no distance to put between them. Her parents talk in the front and notice nothing. She braces a hand against his chest on a bump. His arm comes around her waist on a turn. Neither of them says a word for a long time, and by the time the drive is over Claire has to look at what she has actually been feeling all this time.
