My Duplicated Husband

Esther and Carl have been married five years. He cheated on her, he was violent with her, and their daughter's death came out of something he did. On the fifth anniversary of the wedding there is another violent confrontation between them, and Carl is killed in the course of it by accident. Esther, in shock, buries the body in the backyard and goes to bed. Carl is standing in front of her the next morning. He is alive, and he talks to her the way he did when the two of them first fell in love, careful and gentle with her. Nothing in him matches the man she put in the ground the night before. Esther has no way of telling whether her husband has come back or whether someone else has taken his place.
