Fate of the Phoenix

Gu Qiaoyi holds the rank of princess consort in the Royal Manor, married to Prince Jun Mubai. Emperor Jun Yichen takes notice of her and has her brought into the palace as his concubine by force. Jun Mubai is executed by order of the throne. At the ceremony naming Gu Qiaoyi empress, she takes her own life. She is reborn. In this second life she works to keep Jun Mubai from execution and fails. She dies again and is reborn a third time. In the third life she cuts off contact with Jun Mubai, refuses him, and gives him no explanation. He has also been reborn, without her knowledge, and has begun laying plans to take the throne himself. The two cross paths repeatedly through this life without recognizing what the other one is doing. Misunderstandings build between them, neither aware that the other carries memory of the two prior lives, until each learns the truth about the other's rebirth. Gu Xiyan and Jun Yichen move against them, forcing a confrontation at court. Jun Mubai and Gu Qiaoyi are drawn into the conflict this creates over the throne.
