Falling for the Devil

Mina works in the house of a man the city calls the Black Reaper, as tutor to his son. She took the post to get a foothold in a city where she had none. Every tutor before her had walked out on the boy. She gets the better of him with quick wits and nerve, and he comes round to her. With the father she argues over everything, and after a while the arguing turns into something else. Two women from moneyed families are jealous of her and set about making her life difficult. The father comes down on her side each time. A senior from her school days, the one she used to have a crush on, comes to tell her he loves her. She turns him down, and admits to herself that the man she wants is the one she works for. He has kept, it turns out, keepsakes connected to her. There are misunderstandings and past hurts on both sides to be gone through before the two of them go public.
