Karissa was the Beltrans' real daughter, lost as a child and returned to the family years later. Ivy, the daughter they had adopted while Karissa was missing, took her and locked her in a warehouse. Ivy wanted a demonstration of who the family actually valued, so she set the warehouse on fire with both of them inside. The parents and the brothers came, and they carried Ivy out. Karissa was left where she was. With the fire closing in, the person who came for her was Luis, a man she had once shared a house with. Then she opened her eyes and it was three years earlier, before any of it had happened, with everything she had learned about her family still in her head. She sets about using it.
