When His Silence Broke Her Heart

Three years into her marriage, what Clara Reed wants is to be the one her husband thinks of first. That place is taken. Victor Stone grew up with a foster sister, she was his first love, and he has gone on shielding her through the whole of the marriage. Clara has lived in her shadow the entire time, and by now there is nothing left of what she felt. She asks Victor for a divorce. Victor flies for a living and reads the request as a tantrum he can wait out. Then Clara packs up and moves out of the house, and he understands she meant it. She has never known that he loves her. He tries to get her back, and his foster sister works on both of them with things that are not true, so the two of them only get further apart. By the time Victor sees that his foster sister has been arranging all of it and goes after his wife, Clara has found out she is pregnant and has left the city.
