Her Final Testimony

Sally Gould is forty-eight, in a hospital bed with gunshot wounds, and known to the public as a thief and a swindler who spent decades preying on people. Her four younger siblings have grown into professionals at the top of their fields, and they hate her for handing them off to other families when they were children. The youngest sister, the one who led the team that built a brain-scanning device, proposes using it on Sally: extract her memories and stream them live so that everyone can see what the eldest sister really is. One of the other sisters volunteers to experience Sally's life from the inside. When Sally was eighteen, their parents were killed while investigating a drug ring that moved product across borders. Sally staged a house fire and told people the parents had gone away and not come back. Interrogating the men she tracked down, she learned the drug ring answered to something larger, so she gave the children away one at a time and built a reputation as a greedy coward, and kept it for thirty years while she hunted. The broadcast does not show the siblings what they expected.
