Royal Upstart
Synopsis
The Su family has a live-in son-in-law they are ashamed of, and none of them know that the man arrived in the Great Jing Dynasty by accident and grew up somewhere else entirely. Xiao Ning keeps that to himself and gets nothing for keeping it. His former wife has no use for him, and the women who run the big trading houses talk over his head. What he has is knowledge of work nobody in the dynasty does. He puts it into tea until the tea sells above anything on the market, then does the same with wine, and commoners start queuing for both. Out of that money he founds the first newspaper in the realm and pulls people with unusual talent in around it, and the paper turns out to be useful to a princess who is trying to move up at court. The trading houses go on treating him the way they did at the start, and his tea and wine keep selling.

Ratings & Reviews

Episode 1 might make you go "what IS this lunatic" and bail. He's my favorite short-drama actor and even I hesitated. Please stay with it!! The acting is unreal, the way his eyes go, the way he smiles, each one gets me >_<
