Who Is the Bride's Husband?

The man Natalie meets on her wedding night introduces himself as Cousin Adrian. He is Victor Kingsley, her husband, whose face is said to be disfigured, and he is using the false name to test what she is like. Natalie was married into the Kingsley family in her sister's place, against her will. She goes on dealing with Adrian without knowing who he is, and feeling grows between them during it. The Kingsley family has its own calculations running, there are old grudges in the background, and a kidnapping follows. The two of them work together through it to get the truth out, and what began as each testing the other turns into something else.
