Two Wives, Two Divorces

On our wedding anniversary my husband's first love, Megan, locked me in a room. I had married into the Harper family at the same time as my best friend Leah, me to the older brother, a fire captain, and Leah to the younger brother, a surgeon. Then the noise started upstairs and the fire went through the house. I was seven months pregnant and shut in with no one coming. The smoke got into my lungs and every breath took longer, so I called my husband and asked him to come. He said, "Stop making a scene. False alarms are a crime! Megan's cat is in danger too! I gotta go save an actual life!" Leah smashed the door open and got me out. She called her own husband and asked him to come and treat me, and what came back from his end was cold too, with Megan's cat brought up again.
