JUSTICE UNBOUGHT

Alexander Hale raised his daughter Clara on his own after his wife died. Twenty years ago he had won the release of an innocent man, and the mob came after him for it. Hale takes criminal defense work and has never lost a case, and other lawyers call him the Grim Reaper of the Legal World. His clients are wealthy and well connected. What they pay him goes to the Hale Justice Foundation, which over fifteen years has covered legal costs for more than three thousand victims who could not afford a lawyer. Clara marries Daniel Miller. Victor Blackwood, son of the billionaire Charles Blackwood, holds the two of them and tortures them. Hale leaves the defense side of the room and comes into court for the plaintiff, against Ethan Reynolds, the student he trained, who is now acting for the Blackwoods. Charles and Ethan set up evidence against Hale and the FBI opens an investigation into him. Ninety-nine lawyers offer to represent him for nothing.
