No Vows for a Liar

Two people in plain work clothes arrive at the wedding of Selene and Kane, the heir of a rich family, and sit down as the bride's parents. They are Marcus Drake, head of the trillion-dollar Drake Consortium, and his wife. They lost Selene twenty years ago and found her again only recently, and they have dressed down to see for themselves how she and the man she is marrying treat people. Kane's family jeer at the pair in front of the hall and the guests take it up. Kane's talk of love for Selene is a front, since he is marrying her because her bone marrow is a match for him and he means to use it to treat the illness he has. Selene says she will call off the wedding if that is what it takes to spare her parents, and Kane, losing his temper, hits her in front of everyone. At that point Marcus states his real name and position.
