If Longing Had a Voice

Luthais fell in love with Sabrina when they were young and never forgot her. Years later, in the last days of her studies in the Evers, Sabrina pulls a man out of the water who has fallen in and is drowning. He is Luthais, now an archaeologist, and she has no idea that she is anything to him. The rescue wakes a Cheney relic, one carried abroad long ago, and it comes to life as a small girl called Flying Figure. Flying Figure decides Sabrina is her mother, calls her "Mom", and gives her the ability to see the spirit inside relics and talk with them. Sabrina wants to get Flying Figure home, and to do that she moves into Luthais's house for the time being. The two of them look after the child together and hunt for other relics that were taken from the same homeland and scattered abroad. They grow close over the work. Luthais realizes, slowly, that Sabrina is the girl from his youth. Foreign powers get in their way, and other people set traps for them. Sabrina and Luthais get past both and set out to escort Flying Figure back to her homeland.
