I Loved the Wrong One All Along

For years Cynthia loved the God of War and believed what he told her. She works out that he has been lying to her and that she has loved the wrong man the whole time. She turns away from him without argument and marries the son of the God of the Underworld, who had been protecting her quietly all along. He is injured, and she heals him, and finds her own happiness in the process. Aethon regrets it too late. Whatever he tries, he cannot get his wife back, and he watches her go to another man before he disappears from among the gods entirely. Cynthia begins a new life. Whether any of it was really a mistake in love, or something arranged for her long before, is left open.
