Six Years Too Late to Love

Iris Nolan was an apprentice at a machine works in 1988 when she and Jason Ward, who repaired cars, fell in love. Jason decided he would hold her back and broke it off in the cruellest way he could manage, then went south. Six years later he comes back with money and tries to win her again. A woman named Valeria Cruz is calling herself his wife by then, and she works on Iris with lies and rumours until an accident leaves Iris with permanent damage to her leg. Jason nurses her, and the two of them start closing the distance again. Valeria will not let it alone. She takes Iris to an unfinished building and, pushing her toward the edge, tells her the truth about 1988: Iris's own father arranged the breakup. Jason gets there and pulls her out, and the misunderstanding of six years finally clears. Valeria has humiliated Iris in public by this point, and it rebounds onto her father's reputation. To repair it she is told to go and ask a favour of the country's foremost mechanical designer. She rings the bell, the door opens, and the designer is Iris.
