Love, Lies, and a Little One

Jenny Gardner's sister drugged her, and she became pregnant while unmarried. Her stepmother beat her nearly to death and had her thrown out of the Gardner house. She lost her reputation and everything else. She learned then that her stepmother had been involved in her mother's death years earlier. She survived, left the country and gave birth to a son. She used the medical training she had inherited from her mother and became a doctor, returning five years later as a medical lecturer. Michael Evans, who heads the Evans group, took an interest in her and helped her move against the Gardners. She had believed the boy's father was a beggar her stepmother had arranged. As she and Michael spent more time together, he worked out that her child was his.
