Bye, Husband! My Protection's Over!

Zara is an immortal. Jasper saved her life during a tribulation that would have killed her, and she married him for it. The Carver family he belongs to carries a curse a hundred years old. Zara spent five years of her own lifespan absorbing the disasters it brought down on them, and gave them three chances to have it lifted. The work drained her spiritual power and turned her hair white. Jasper broke his marriage vows and had a child with another woman. The family treated that child as the one who brought them luck and paid no attention to what Zara had done for them. She left, telling them on the way out that the curse had never been broken. The disaster arrived as she passed through the gate.
