Mended Hearts

Jane married into a rich family, and her mother-in-law made her life a misery. Out of desperation she swapped her newborn daughter for a neighbour's baby boy. She raised the boy as her son, Ethan Brooks, while her own daughter went missing. Twenty years on, the girl has grown up as Tina, raised in hard circumstances by an adoptive father. She and Ethan fall in love. Jane, prompted by her servant Angel, keeps getting in their way and humiliates Tina more than once. Then it comes out that Tina is Jane's birth daughter and Ethan is the adopted one. Tina cannot put the humiliations behind her and will not forgive Jane. Jane changes her manner and works at winning her daughter round. Meanwhile Zayn, the son of Jane's husband by his first wife, comes back from abroad. The father had left the family property to Jane and Ethan, and Zayn wants it. He sets about driving Jane and Tina apart, and in the course of it Ethan falls from a building and is left in a coma.
