Oops, I Made Treason Look Legal

Marcus Lee woke up in the body of a prince, the most humiliated one the dynasty had known. His brothers pushed him around, the empress would not look at him, and the officials at court behaved as if he were not there. The second prince then draped a dragon robe over his shoulders, accused him of plotting rebellion, and had him sentenced to death by slow cutting. On the execution ground Marcus closed his eyes and called up the life editing system. The commander of the palace guard turned his sword on the empress. The southern cavalry massed at the border pass. In the throne hall the prime minister tore the decree apart. The dragon robe went on him for real, the guard stood behind him, his brother handed over the tiger tally and the prime minister brought the imperial seal, and the officials knelt. Marcus said it was not a usurpation but a legal accession that everyone had wanted, and told the empress the throne was his to sit on now. The empress heard it and smiled.
