Into The Novel To Save The Emperor!

Liu Wanyan reads a novel about Emperor Yuanzhe and cries over how badly it ends for him. Then she is electrocuted and wakes in the body of Jiang Wangshu, the consort who in that book brought about his death. Yuanzhe has also come back, carrying the memory of the betrayal that killed him, and he is nothing like the man in the pages she pitied. He is watchful, quick to suspect, and he tries more than once to have her executed. She survives by staying close to him and reading his moods, and none of it earns his trust. When assassins come at him, she runs toward him to shield him and he seizes her and holds her in front of the blade. After that she starts working out how to get out of the palace. He learns later what she had actually been running toward that night and understands that he has read her wrong from the beginning. He begins watching her properly. What he finds is a woman who behaves nothing like the Jiang Wangshu of his last life, and she knows things about his childhood no one should know. That is what makes him curious. The two of them go on testing each other while working the same side of the palace's dangers.
