A Love Lost to Lies

Adrian Hale comes back after five years with Vera Alden beside him and says he does not know who Claire Carter is. Claire had waited the whole five years and had never treated the engagement as over, so she sets about walking him back through his own life. The memory loss is a story. Adrian knows who she is, and the story is there to move Vera into the place that was Claire's. Vera is given the wedding dress and the earrings that had been meant for Claire, the company is taken out from under her, and she is put down in public more than once. Claire stops trying to bring his memory back and starts collecting what she can prove, and she books a press conference to put it in front of everyone at once.
