Fated Flames

The dealer at the tables in Sean Quain's casino goes by Quill Yale. She is Shirley, who had her face changed by surgery so that nobody in the building would place her. Six years earlier her adoptive sister Sandra poisoned their parents, and Shirley lost the two of them in a night. Sandra had her drugged as well, and the stranger she was left with was Sean, who ran the gambling house. Sandra cannot have children. Ten months later she took the daughter Shirley had given birth to, brought the baby up as hers, married into the Quain family on the strength of it, and then shot at Shirley to finish the business. A gold pendant of Sean's took the bullet. Quill Yale deals cards in Sean's casino to get near him and to take back what Sandra is holding. Sean works out early that she is running something at him and lets her run it. The longer they are around each other, the more of the past comes up. She is the woman from six years ago, and she is also the person he has spent years looking for, the one who saved his life. The two of them move against Sandra together.
