Zach Moore had married Lori Dale while he was still attached to Claudia Snyder, and he stayed that way through the marriage. Their son Dave grew up preferring Claudia to his own mother. Lori was forty and dying before she learned about either. She woke up in the seventh year of the marriage. This time she filed for divorce and would not be talked out of it, and left Zach free to go to Claudia. The divorce had to wait out the thirty days the law required, and she spent them getting back into the work she had given up when she married, on Professor Wang's team, on advanced brain cancer.
