From Ashes, We Rise

Nancy Quinn leaves the Lee house in the city with her daughter. She was born in a village where only sons counted, married Chad Lee at 18, and moved to the city with him after the girl was born. His family despised where she came from, made her life hard, and finally framed the child for a theft. She meets Stan Zamora, a veteran who cannot walk. The Lees keep harassing her and the girl, and he keeps them off. With his backing she learns to read and studies, and starts sewing clothes to sell. The sewing grows into a workshop and later a clothing factory of her own. Nancy looks after Stan through those years, and his legs recover until he is walking again.
