The Unseen Wife Became a Badass

Her husband does not come to the hospital once in the two months she is there after a car accident. His mother is cold to her on the occasions they meet. Her own father's one question is how much more can be got out of her husband's family. The woman all of this lands on is a wife under a three-year contract, married into the family so that her father's company could be saved. For three years she has put up with the silent treatment and the talk about her, and she has nothing to show for it. That stops when she gets out of the hospital. She dismisses the housekeeper, who had been treating her as beneath notice, and the furniture her husband picked out goes out of the house and gets replaced. Cats come in, which he is allergic to and cannot stand. Then she goes back to work as a designer at a home decorating firm, at the lowest level. Coworkers go out of their way to make it hard for her and she argues her way past them. Her husband, by this point, does not understand what she has become. The client she signs is one her bosses had failed to close, and it is the biggest single order the firm has.
