Rowan is the heir to his family's fortune, and the family wanted him to marry Clara, the head of the city's biggest company. He refused, because he was in love with Clara, and they threw him out. Without the family money he worked days and delivered food at night, and paid for the apartment, the bride price and the wedding out of that. Clara never learned where he came from. At the ceremony she keeps raising what she wants from him, egged on by her friends, and threatens to call the wedding off each time he hesitates. Rowan reaches the end of it and decides that if she does not want to marry, they will not marry. Meanwhile Clara, who grew up with Rowan and was once saved by him as a child, has never stopped looking for him. She finds out where the wedding is being held and goes to the hotel to take him back.
