Vengeance and Regret

The Fu group ran the Lin family company into the ground, and Lina Lee's parents took poison. She is still at their bodies when Ethan Fox appears, the man who proposed to her five years ago and then vanished without a word. He is the Fu group's young chairman. He tells her the Lin family bankrupted his father's company five years earlier and drove both his parents off a building, that he spent five years rebuilding it in order to come back, and that she is going to pay the debt. He keeps her, and he hurts her, and he is in love with her the entire time, which he punishes himself for. Three years of it leave her badly ill in her mind, and she goes to her parents' graves. Only then does Ethan learn the truth: the Cox family engineered the ruin of both companies, and neither set of parents killed themselves. Nobody had any reason to hate anyone. He finds out she is alive and spends three years looking for her, and when he does find her she is dying of an illness with little time left. He gets hold of the drug that treats it.
