Eighteen years ago a woman gave birth to a son. Around the same time a close friend of hers, who had been assaulted by the teacher the women studied under, gave birth to a daughter, with help from the first woman's husband. The friend asked the couple to take the baby girl away and deliver her to a man she named. The man misread the handover. The master of the Crimson Shade Sect raised Lucan and trained him as an assassin. Lucan became the sect's top killer and lived for revenge. He was in love with Lilia and had never told her. Just before he was to begin the revenge, he learned Lilia was to be married to another man. He decided to withdraw without a word. Lilia then told him she loved him and asked him to leave with her. His obedience to the master started to give way. The master had arranged the whole situation as a trap for him.
