When the Rose Brushes Against the Gun

The Jiang family wants an explanation. Their daughter Jiang Wanxin is pregnant and unmarried, and the questioning and the pressure fall on her alone. The father is Huo Changting, a marshal with a reputation for coldness, whom she met through an accident. He looks for her without giving up. What he shows her is quiet and protective rather than spoken. Behind the pressure on her is the family itself. Her father assaulted her mother, who was not his wife, and afterwards her mother lost the ability to speak, which kept his involvement in espionage hidden. The family's treatment of Jiang Wanxin goes as far as an attempt to bury her alive. With Huo Changting behind her she starts looking into what happened, in a period when the country itself is unsettled.
