Oh No! The "Waste" Is the Alliance Chief!

The Heavenly Alliance runs a test of spiritual roots, and Blaze Ward's registers nothing at all. Tang Qianfan of the Tang family leads the mockery, and there is nothing in Blaze's record to argue with him about. What none of them know is that Blaze spent eight years in seclusion under three teachers who never explained who they were. Those three arrive at the assessment. One of them is the emperor's eldest brother; the other two are the masters of Wanxiang Pavilion. Blaze's beloved Ivy loses her soul, and to save her he goes into the Nightless City for the Life Soul Jade and buys it there. At a martial contest in the state lord's residence he defeats General Tang Qingluo with a single move and takes the seat of alliance leader over the army raised against the beasts. He carries a halberd called Bilou Huangquan into the Abyss, where the ancestor of the beasts waits and Tang Qianfan's revolt is still unfinished.
