Qiana Cooper and Jack James marry on a contract with a term of one year. She signs out of anger at the husband who has just divorced her. Jack needs a wife on paper to void an engagement his parents arranged for him. She had come to Green Land under a plain name, hiding that she was a billionaire's daughter. Her father's indulgence was total and she wanted to earn her own living, so she left and married John Collins there. John took up with Cindy Smith, who presented herself as an aristocrat, and divorced Qiana to climb. After the divorce Qiana tries telling people what family she comes from. John and the others laugh at her. Jack does not believe her either, and he has not mentioned that he heads a family of his own. Neither of them has any use for people who pull rank, which is most of what they have in common when they start.
