Loving You Through Rumors, Rain, and Ruin

Fu Yanli was studying law and Wen Wan was studying design when they met at university and fell in love. Six students, among them Zhao Xin and Zhou Jin, bullied Wen Wan, and Fu Yanli's grandfather pressured her into breaking off the relationship. She was committed to a psychiatric hospital, and there she gave birth to a daughter, Xiaole. Fu Yanli was told a version of events that was not the true one and left the country. Five years on, Wen Wan sells goods from a stall and she and Xiaole live on very little. Xiaole cannot speak. Wen Wan runs into the six again. Her mother and her brother care about money and not about her. Fu Yanli comes back as a practising lawyer, finds Wen Wan and the child, and learns what actually happened five years earlier. He goes after the people responsible through the courts. Lin Shiyu, who had worked against Wen Wan, changes sides and helps her.
