Mrs. Grant Is Single Now

Claire Morgan was raised to take over the Morgan Group and married a man well below her station because she wanted him. He treated the marriage as a ladder. The woman he had loved before her makes a point of turning up to needle her, his relatives work steadily through her money, and her own family keeps putting other people ahead of her. All of them tell her to be reasonable and give ground. She does not. Cheating is grounds for divorce and she files. Every scheme run against her gets answered. When she is able to prove a plot on her life she sees to it that everyone involved is charged and locked up. She goes through the relatives who sold her out and clears them off. She helps the elder Mrs. Grant rebuild the Grant Group from what was left of it and keeps the Morgan Group out of the hands of the people circling it. The divorce leaves her richer and better placed than the marriage ever did.
