The other side of the contract is Vivian Sterling, who runs the Sterling Group. He returned under the name Lord Hades and stayed close to her as her bodyguard. Not long after he got back he ran into Avery, a captain at the NSB, in the street. The meeting turned physical and he told her who he was. They spent the night together afterwards. At a restaurant he drove off Marilyn, an assassin who takes work internationally, and named Sylvia, a friend of Vivian's, as the one feeding information out of the company. The Blackwood family went after the Sterling anti-cancer project with killings, explosives, ambushes and traps set on the business side. Damian broke each attempt. He faced a sniper on his own, brought Don Carmine and the Azure Gang under his control, and put down the assassin Clyde Barnes. A family with standing in the capital came in behind him.
