Don't Make Me Come Out

Chance had a name once, in a line of work he keeps to himself. He put it down and went to live among ordinary people, on the same streets as everybody else, with his family and nothing else to look after. Enough time passed that the name stopped meaning anything to anyone who had not been there. His daughter runs into trouble he cannot deal with from where he is standing, and he stops keeping his head down. Word gets around that he is active again, and men he used to work with come back to him without being asked twice. What he was good at then he is still good at. He uses it on the people who went after his daughter, and on holding things steady around the family while the rest of it plays out.
