Don't Mess with That Beggar

Timothy sits at the side of the road with a begging bowl. The passers-by, and the local bully who kicks the bowl out of his hands, have no idea he is the man known as the King of Hell. His face goes cold when the bowl goes flying. He is working out how to poison the man when he is interrupted. Winnie Shaw is in the bath when a servant brings word that the boy who helped her years ago has been found, and that he is begging in the street now. She leaves at once. In front of a crowd she kneels in the road and asks Timothy to marry her. He looks at her and decides a woman who repays a debt is worth going with, and says yes. He goes back to the Shaw house with her. Her family treats the marriage as a public humiliation, a daughter of their rank tied to a beggar, and puts a choice to her: drop him, or get out of the family. Timothy tells them they will regret it if he and his wife are made to leave.
